the adolescents(reflex i believe) posted this on another site about hot topic:
no one here has said anything that makes me think hot topic is a bad choice- or at least worse than any other store.
all i've gotten is the usual lame bullshit: waaahhh, the bands suck. waaaahhhh, they're corporate. waaahhhh, they are owned by the gap. waaaaahhhh, they're at the mall.
NO SUBSTANCE.
i'll say it again, got no problem with hot topic. no problem with the gap, or vans, or lady footlocker, or macy's, or sears, or a million other stores i don't shop at.
i prefer shoes without labels, levis, and tshirts- with or without prints. if a store has them and i have money and need them, i will buy it. easy enough.
i still don't care wear you shop. there are way bigger problems to invest my energy into. if my band's stupid logo- which i created with a 2HB pencil and legal pad cut off a redwood tree that was older than god- in a goth chain store is the biggest concern you have- man, i wish i was you. i buy gas every week and pay taxes that get dumped straight into a war machine that i oppose.
next month i will spend my saturday outside a wal mart protesting their anti-union hostility and handing out leaflets about the governator.
i hope you'll be outside hot topic complaining about my band.
you like thrift stores? go for it. when i went to them you could buy a bag of clothes for a dime. i don't buy clothes at thrift stores anymore. i buy records and books and recording gear- you know- the kinds of things people who like music really care about.
giving in to a younger generation? what's that supposed to mean? are you saying young people aren't worth listening to? do you think by the mistake of birth years that older people have more legitimate opinions or ideals? you sound like my mother! end quote
personally, i buy the one liner t's and stickers from hot topic, some batman stuff too.
mainly cause it was CHEAPER to get it from them than it would have been to get from my comic store.
i'm sure in the future i'll go back for something else
"back in those days, you couldn't run down to the mall and get you lil' puusy pierced or some crazy color for your hair"
NESS
Yep Yep, Shop where you want. We have that freedom.
Use it.
Who gives a FUCK what people think.
